Are you tired of talking about the weather, your hobbies and other boring topics? Do you need a place to really express your views and opinions on more interesting topics? Then, this class is for you! We will watch videos, listen to podcasts and have meaningful discussions and debates around some really exciting topics. In these lessons we will discuss everything from architecture to philosophy and the environment to conspiracy theories. We will have discussions, hold debates, take part in role plays and work together to solve problems. Each lesson will be based around a different topic but here are some previous examples: - Working for Elon Musk - A video lesson about what it is like to work for the world’s richest man - Fast Fashion - What is it? What are the consequences of Fast Fashion? How can we solve this problem? - Voluntourism - Can volunteering and tourism co-exist? What are the potential dangers of this kind of travel? These lessons will allow you to combine skills - reading, listening and speaking. Each lesson will provide you with: Useful vocabulary on the topic - Focused speaking practice in small and large groups (2 - 6 people) - Extra materials (YouTube Videos, Podcasts, Articles etc.) - An opportunity to listen to international students with different accents You will also need to work together in small teams to achieve a communicative aim. This will help you build confidence, strengthen the skill of asking questions and building conversations.
