Il suo teatro mescola tradizione popolare, comicità fisica e invenzione linguistica, ispirandosi anche alla Commedia dell’arte, ma trasformandola in qualcosa di completamente nuovo e contemporaneo.

Nel 1997 ha ricevuto anche il Premio Nobel per la Letteratura, un riconoscimento che ha confermato l’importanza del suo lavoro non solo in Italia, ma in tutto il mondo.
