คำอธิบาย
Colours are taught in week one and never used, because you cannot use a colour until you can build a sentence around it. Now you can. This part gives the whole descriptive toolkit with its grammar: why ചുവപ്പ് becomes ചുവന്ന before a noun, how Malayalam's oldest colour words fit the Berlin and Kay pattern, and the second meaning of പച്ച (raw). Then shapes and sizes, the comparative built with -എക്കാൾ (literally bigger from that), the superlative with ഏറ്റവും, and the measures you use in every shop, including the bunch and the bundle. Words and phrases in this class: ചുവന്ന ഷർട്ട് (chuvanna shirt) – a red shirt വെളുത്ത വീട് (veluttha veedu) – a white house കറുത്ത ബാഗ് (karuttha bag) – a black bag ഇത് എന്ത് നിറമാണ്? (ithu enthu niramaanu?) – what colour is it? വേറെ നിറമുണ്ടോ? (vere niramundo?) – do you have another colour? പച്ചവെള്ളം (pachavellam) – plain unboiled water പച്ചമാങ്ങ (pachamaanga) – raw mango വട്ടമേശ (vattamesha) – a round table ഇത് അതിനെക്കാൾ വലുതാണ് (ithu athinekkaal valuthaanu) – this is bigger than that ഏറ്റവും വലിയ (ettavum valiya) – the biggest ഇതാണ് ഏറ്റവും നല്ലത് (ithaanu ettavum nallathu) – this is the best കാൽ കിലോ (kaal kilo) – quarter kilo ഒരു കൂട് (oru koodu) – a bunch (of bananas) In this class: • Colour words, and the three old ones that change before a noun • Berlin and Kay, and why ഓറഞ്ച് was borrowed • Shapes, sizes, and comparing with -എക്കാൾ and ഏറ്റവും • Shop measures: kilos, litres, pieces, bunches and bundles Quizzes below.
