คำอธิบาย
A small set of sentences you should own so completely that they arrive under stress, in noise and while tired, without hesitation. This consolidation drill is about depth, not breadth. In ten blocks you produce about eighty sentences before you hear them: repairing a breakdown, meeting and parting, needs, polite requests, feelings, soft refusals, reassurance, the food ritual, address terms and conversation openers. Almost none of them carry information. They keep two people talking, and ഇതിനെ മലയാളത്തിൽ എന്ത് പറയും? gets you any noun you are missing. Words and phrases in this class: എനിക്ക് മനസ്സിലായില്ല (enikku manassilaayilla) – I did not understand പതുക്കെ പറയാമോ? (pathukke parayaamo?) – can you say it slowly? ഒന്നുകൂടി പറയാമോ? (onnukoodi parayaamo?) – can you say it again? ഇതിനെ മലയാളത്തിൽ എന്ത് പറയും? (ithine malayaalathil enthu parayum?) – what do you call this in Malayalam? എന്നോട് മലയാളത്തിൽ സംസാരിക്കാമോ? (ennodu malayaalathil samsaarikkaamo?) – will you speak to me in Malayalam? ദയവായി എന്നെ തിരുത്തണം (dayavaayi enne thiruthanam) – please correct me എന്തുണ്ട് വിശേഷം? (enthundu vishesham?) – what's the news? പോയിട്ട് വരാം (poyittu varaam) – I'll go and come back എല്ലാവരോടും അന്വേഷണം പറയണം (ellaavarodum anweshanam parayanam) – give my regards to everyone ഒരു കാര്യം ചോദിക്കട്ടെ? (oru kaaryam chodikkatte?) – may I ask something? വലിയ ഉപകാരമായി (valiya upakaaramaayi) – it was a great help ഞാൻ ഒന്ന് ആലോചിക്കട്ടെ (njaan onnu aalochikkatte) – let me think about it വിഷമിക്കണ്ട (vishamikkanda) – don't worry ചെറുപ്പത്തിൽ എങ്ങനെയായിരുന്നു? In this class: • Block one: the ten repair sentences, the most important in the course • Meeting, parting, needs and the polite request • Feelings, soft refusals, reassurance and the food ritual • Six openers that start a conversation with anybody Quizzes below.
