ติวเตอร์ของชุมชน🇷🇺 You learned «ИДТИ» = “to walk / to go”… and then Russians do THIS. 😅
Because идёт is used in way more situations than physical movement.
🚶 Он идёт домой.
→ He’s walking home.
🌧️ Дождь идёт.
→ It’s raining.
🎬 Фильм идёт два часа.
→ The movie lasts two hours.
👗 Тебе идёт!
→ It suits you! / It looks great on you!
So if someone tells you:
«Тебе очень идёт это платье!»
…they’re definitely NOT saying your dress is walking anywhere. 😂
They mean:
✨ That dress really suits you!”
💡 This is why translating Russian word by word doesn’t always work. The same verb can have completely different meanings depending on the context.
And идти is one of those verbs Russians use everywhere. 🇷🇺
👇 Which meaning of ИДЁТ surprised you the most?
