It would only be used as an expression (Oh shoot!). It would not replace "crap" as a noun--if you say "this picture is crap" you wouldn't replace "crap" with "shoot." But you could say "this picture sucks" or "this picture is garbage" if you want a different word! Hope that makes sense!
