This fruit is called “KAKI” in Japanese. They turn orange and get sweet in autumn, but some of them are still bitter then. People keep bitter KAKI dried, then it turns sweet afterwards. I wonder how people in other countries have them?
I'm not an English native...hope my correction still helps. BTW I'm from Taiwan, we have KAKI (persimmon) in the same way as you described.

Hi Natsuko! I'm from Russia and I study English now, so I can't check your text but I can answer your question. In Russian we name this fruit 'hurma'. It isn't very common in my country but sometimes we eat it. I like it very much! And of course, becouse of the climate persimmons don't grow in my country, so we eat them which were bought from south countries. By the way, I've never heard about dry persimmons. Is their taste very different from usual persimmons?
