Which do you use more often? Plugs, plug sockets or outlets or sockets?

An outlet or socket is the set of little holes in the wall where you can plug something in. "Socket" has some other meanings, but I don't think they're what you're getting at here. A plug is the chunk of plastic with prongs that you find at the end of an electrical cord. You can plug (verb) a plug (noun) into an outlet or a socket (two words for the same thing) in the wall. I've never heard the term "plug socket" in the U.S., but English speakers from other places might use the term. I hope that helps!

Hi Jessica. I use both plugs and outlets. I need the computer plug. (Plug as in the device). Do you know where I can find an outlet my phone is dying? I use this when asking for a place to plug a device in. Let's chat more. My schedule is open for new enrollments. We can go over lots of ways to use different vocabularies. I invite you to look at my profile, reviews and schedule. I teach adults and children of all ages and levels. I have discounted packages and trial classes. See you soon.
