Nowadays many people have access to computers on a wide basis and a large number of children play computer games. What are the positive and negative impacts of playing computer games and what can be done to minimize the bad effects? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own experience or knowledge. These days people have more opportunities to get to know computers, therefore, more children are growing to be attached to video games. Although computer games may distract teenagers from school work, they do benefit it from obtaining certain knowledge. To start with, it is common that plenty of children skip classes just to keep track of their games, this leads to bad results in final exams and they can no longer concentrate on the contents which are taught by the teachers during classes. For instance, after the release of next generation game Cyberpunk, many of them had stayed in their dormitories all day long and couldn’t get their hands off of those keyboards. On the other hand, video games do provide youngsters with various of skills that they cannot get from classrooms. This is because those games ask players to solve puzzles and form a sense of responsibility. For example, Uncharted is a pirate-based game, which needs players to solve mysteries and work with other team members to complete the missions. Hence, kids get a better understanding of logic and teamwork while playing. Surely, a number of measures can be taken to minimize the negative effects. From my perspective, one of them is to have self-control. In order to do that, we can have kids to set a timer before studying. If they are allowed to access to computer games in a limited time, it doesn’t really influence their concentration in assignments. To sum up, kids are likely to be additive to video games to a point it affects their work in school, however, a series of beneficial knowledge existed within that entertainment do allow children to know better about some
