Also worth noting that some people have begun making efforts to avoid the term "suicide" in contemporary English, preferring the term "taking one's own life", because the term "suicide" is thought to stigmatise/insult the people who have taken their own lives, which can add to their families' and friends' hurt. "Suicide" used to be a crime in England, and the notion of it being wrongful survives linguistically in the phrase "commit suicide".

'Suicide' means to kill yourself. 'Squad' means group or team of people. The two words together form a multi word noun and specifically refers to a group of fighters who will sacrifice their lives in a battle if that is necessary to win. If you are talking about the DC Comics "Suicide Squad" I guess they have that name because they are prepared to die , if necessary.
