When I feel like I'm at a language plateau, I definitely take a little break first. My brain must be tired, which signals me to rest. Fortunately, I have yet to feel like I've wholly gotten away from English. But I have tried to watch movies or social media without a specific purpose when I was in those circumstances.
Changing the focus might work well for learners. For example, if you meet a plateau in speaking, why don't you try to focus on writing? Or would focusing on pronunciation or accent be fun for you? In my experience, getting away from English was ultimately stressful. So I tried to enjoy English. If you can discover something new, that would be a significant part of your learning journey and it would support you when you return to studying.
