A common problem for many students and adult learners of Mandarin is their attempt to translate text, word-for-word, from Mandarin into English. Although there are vast number of grammatical patterns in the Chinese language, I struggle mightily with the 只要……就…… (zhǐyào... jiù...)    grammatical pattern.
