IELTS Academic Task 1 The table below gives information about changes in modes of travel in England between 1985 and 2000. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. -> The table illustrates changes in the average distance in miles travelled per person per year using various modes of transport in England over 15 years from 1985 to 2000. It can be seen that certain modes of travel usage saw an increase in the distance travelled per person such as cars, long distance buses, trains and taxis, while for others, there was a decrease like bicycles, local buses and walking. (Which increased/decreased most?) Looking at the figures in more detail, car usage was the most popular means of transport in England at 3,199 and 4,806 miles between 1985 and 2000. Followed by other, local bus, train and walking with 429, 289 and 255 miles respectively in 1985 (you have four modes but only three numbers). The second thing to point out is that the usage of taxis climbed three-fold which was a dramatic increase. (From what to what, you need to give the numbers)
