Hi everybody,
I am Italian and I like very much the songs in English, wherever the singer or the band comes from. I think the English language allows to write lyrics that create a perfect match with the music and the rythm. Nevertheless, when I listen to them, sometimes I don't understand all the words of the songs, but I don't look for the lyrics on the web because I'm afraid I could be disappointed by its meaning, as occasionally happened. But I'm very happy when I come to know the meaning of a particular song and I like it.
As an example I used to love the song 'Oh Jean' from The Proclaimers without knowing its meaning... one day, by chance, I came across the lyrics, and now I love it knowing its lyrics as well!
Has ever happened to you to love a song in another language without knowing its meaning, and be disappointed or happy when you discover the real meaning?
Hi Georgia, do you remember what was the name of the song?
Hi overbyen, it is has happened the same to me, when I discover some touching lyrics of a good song!
Yes I understand the feeling. Most of the time when I listen to music in another language, I just care about the music. However, sometimes I might find out what the lyrics to a song I like is about and I would love that song even more. I have even cried a few times because some of the lyrics is so touching.
Yes! Many years ago I used to listen to a French song that I loved. I thought it was a pop song.
I recently found it and listened to it again only to realize it was a song for little kids! The lyrics are very basic and silly so i was a little soap disappointed .. but I still like the tune. :)
You are right Georgia, the tune is nice! Thanks for sharing.
Yes Svetlana, Proclaimers are very good! I also catch a verse that I understand and like from a song and sing it!
yeah))
Proclaimers are so igniting, aren't they? I had been singing their "I'm on my way.." so long period of time, just like you I didn't even think about thje words, and I were so happy, even without any meaning except the understanding that I'm on my way :)
