The Arctic Monkeys are a great British band, probably my favorite of the last ten years or so. I think that they are distinctly British as well meaning that they sound British, sing about British culture, and use British slang in their songs.

An older band that was also extra British that I used to like was Pulp. They had really great lyrics to their songs.

What do you mean by 'not too famous') Almost all good ones are popular. I love Oasis, Keane and Manic Street Preachers, oh... and Coldplay. For singers - Tom Odell, James Arthur, Robbie Williams, I always thought they were British. Correct me if i'm mistaken.
