what do you think is the best age to settle down or tie the knot??

I think ''tie the knot'' and ''settle down'' have similar meanings, so please correct me if i'm wrong.

well, what do you think is the best age to settle down?

30s, 40s, and why?

and i also want to make a side question, what does the word ''DRAMA'' mean for people from the States and Canada?

Many people use it in the States, specially when someone is looking for starting a relationship, he or she say ''please no drama'' or ''drama free'' or something like that, i know the meaning of 'drama' in spanish but people from latin america don't use it thus.

Please, help me. Thanks in advance.

P.S: Also whether you have a doubt about anything in spanish please let me know it, It will be a pleasure for me to help you.

' Tie the knot' always refers to the act of getting married to a partner.

For example: They are going to tie the knot in June.

Whereas 'settle down' is more ambiguous. It can mean to have children/ to buy a house/ to get married/ to stay situated in one place and so on.

For example: Paul thinks thirty is the perfect age to settle down and have children

I am from the UK and I would say drama (when talking about relationships) has negative connotations. People can state they want a "drama free relationship" and so on. People don't tend to go looking for drama and generally avoid it.

Hope this is useful!

There is no universal criteria to define when is better for you to settle down but there is a sticking point you may consider which is the birth age from women. Once beyond the age, women would be hard to have a baby and give birth. There would make different sense if a woman cannot have a baby in a marriage.

"Tie the knot" means that you are about to get married while "settle down" spans a wide range of meanings which runs from having a stable relationship to getting married or even just retiring, depending on context.

Also, I think late 20s to early 30s is the best time to tie the knot since anytime later can result to a huge generational gap. I, myself, have been in such a pinch, and it's totally not nice.

I'm not from the US or Canada, but I think that when they say 'no drama,' it means that they don't want a jealous partner or a lot of arguments in the relationship.
