What didn't you do for the environment today?

Lately I've been thinking about all the needless ways I harm the environment. I think if I start making a list of things I shouldn't have done, I may generate so more mindfulness about my behavior.

Today I bought a plastic bottle of water, drank it, and threw the bottle away. Later I was thirsty again so I bought another bottle of water. I'm fortunate enough to live in a city with drinkable tap water--why didn't I just re-fill the first? Even better, why haven't I purchased a personal, reusable bottle yet?

Today I also used a Styrofoam plate.

These are my  environmental confessions, what are yours?

I wouldn’t call myself an environmentalist. At the grocery store, I turned down the offer of paper or a cardboard box — and selected plastic. It was much easier walking back the two kilometers holding plastic bags, believe you me. Other than that, I didn’t use any plastic today. Besides, those plastic bags will make perfect garbage bags. I wouldn’t call myself an environmentalist, although some of the SUV drivers in the parking lot opted for cardboard boxes — I guess they must be environmentalists.

I confess to having on several occasions described environmentalism as a modern cult, all the while cavalierly enjoying various Western amenities available to me. You'll surely understand, then, why I find it somewhat eerie to confess for my sins. Nevertheless here's one way in which I probably harmed good old Mother Earth today: I congratulated someone on her pregnancy, thereby encouraging human procreation, a source of damage to the environment.

I'm not an environmentalist, I try my best to be one.
I do bring shopping bags, aluminium straws, stainless chopsticks, spoon and fork, water bottle, a mini towel (I sweat easily), and a small plastic bag for bins. I sometimes bring food containers if I want to have a takeway meal.

However, one thing that I could hardly do is to get around on foot. I like walking, even though the weather is humid and hot, it won't bother me.
What bothers me a lot is there're no pavements for pedestrians around the area I live in.
Ever since I sold my car, I fully depend on the taxi. The public transportation here doesn't give a good service, the drivers drive recklessly and the cars condition are poorly maintained.

This is a good topic, Teacher Matt.
Thank you.
