Would you live your job to become a backpacker in the next 5 months?

Hi Everyone! Are you happy with your Job?

Would you live your job to become a backpacker in the next 5 months?

I met an Argentin girl that has gone brave enough for that. Really admirable! :)

Thanks, Camila, for the inspiring post. But, wow, what a surprisingly judgmental crowd! Personally, I think your Argentinian friend is indeed admirable. Good for her for managing to earn a little money (and not waste it on things that bring no value to her life — not that there’s anything wrong with making different choices). Good for her for managing to find a way to do something that she really loves (possibly giving up the comforts of home and living quite frugally — not that that makes a difference). Absolutely anyone living in the developed world can do the exact same thing — if they’re willing step out of their comfort zone and make a few sacrifices. Travel is not a “luxury”, in fact, people in the so-called “developing” world travel vast distances all the time (mostly one-way to the “developed” world). I believe that when there’s a will, there’s a way. If people don’t agree with me, that’s fine, but there’s no need to judge others for doing whatever it takes to live their dreams. Some people do, while some people criticize — the choice is up to each of us.

Well, you can do a break for a few months if you have savings. What if you don't?

There are quite a number of backpackers traveling around Australia. Most of them are working all day long for their scanty material life. Life is not easy to maintain with minimal wage on an irregular payment.  Working as a backpacker in Australia has to cost one a lot in different ways. This aspect features many of them are in hardship.

However,  many of them are aware of what they are doing and some of them are trying to apply for a student visa in order to go to universities for further education after they have gone through these hardships. Whatever they choose, to say the least, they are making new choices for themselves, which is different from certain adults who have no idea how to make their life different and interesting.

I'd be a nomad for the rest of my life if I could and I suppose most people would prefer such a freewheeling lifestyle over sitting in the office, but it takes money so not everyone can afford that.

I'm with Aud on this. It's not admirable. It just shows she has enough money.

Travel is a luxury that many people can't afford.
