L'italoamericano
Erano in pochi a conoscere l’italiano standard o altre lingue.
Buyare (to buy) comprare
Parcare (to park) parcheggiare.

Ciao Francesca! I'm learning Italian and I could understand your ideas but I can't respond in Italian, just English. My dad's family came from Gasperina in southern Italy in the early 1900s. Their youngest daughter, my great-aunt, is still alive and well. They Americanized their first names and settled in New York/New Jersey. My Dad remembers talking to his grandparents in Italian as a kid. He didn't fully speak Italian and they didn't speak much English, but they managed to communicate. He wishes he had kept up with it. It's my dream to go to Gasperina someday. Thanks for the interesting information in your article!
