I am learning in school, and everyone knows that 

here British English is preferred, but I like American more.

Actually, i'm learning "american" english because i prefer to speak with an american accent. English accent isn't so natural for me, i imagine that's because i'm more used to american accent. But weirdly as i prefer american accent for speaking....English accent sounds sexier and i prefer it when it comes to listening;

I'm learning British English and I prefer British accent to American. :)

In general, there is no big difference which version of English is worth studying, at least until reaching level C1.

But American English provides a much wider range of supporting materials: films, series, audiobooks, various shows - about 80% of them, if not more, are American-made (the remaining 20% ​​are also far from all British, a significant part of them are Indian, Australian, Canadian, etc.).

However, indeed, many school programs in Europe are based on British textbooks and materials, that is, many teachers are more familiar with teaching their students with using British materials.

I improve my English myself in recent years, and it’s more convenient for me to use American sources.

I noticed that the audiobooks read by speakers from the UK, I understand worse, the impression that they speak less clearly and somehow boring. But I can understand them, just there is no pleasure that I get from American literary pronunciation (I do not consider many options for slang and local English versions, by the way in the UK there can be even more of these modifications than in the USA).

So, I definitely prefer American English.
