I've always wondered why people from different countries hear the sounds animals or objects make in different ways.

Did you know that the sound a rooster makes in English is Cock-a-doodle-doo, in French Cocorico and in Italian Kikkiriki?

My theory is that different places had different kinds of plants, so the wind that used to blow on the leaves of trees in one place used to make a different sound than the one being made by different trees somewhere else.

Also that different places probably had different kinds of rocks, so the water that used to flow over rocks in one river used to make a different sound than the one being made by another river with different kinds of rocks. This extends to the sounds made by rain hitting things and wind blowing on things as well.

In addition, different musical instruments played by our ancestors probably contributed to the many different ways we describe everything.

Based on this we can say that the combinations of sounds made by water flowing in rivers, wind blowing on leaves and the primitive musical instruments played by our ancestors have trained our ears in such a way that we can hear things around us differently.

I could be wrong, but this is the best I could think of.
