Italki isn’t useless at all. It’s just not the best tool to look for language exchange partners. There aren’t many Germans looking for language exchange here but when you scroll through the German forum you’ll find many language partner requests by fellow German learners, so that could be a start to practice with them. You can also take part in German discussions in the forum, ask questions about German and post German notebook entries. There are Germans who answer a lot of questions and correct notebook entries, so you’ll receive lots of free help.

Italki has bought an app called Lingbe, which can connect you instantly with language exchange partners all over the world. You can set German as your target language and by just pushing the call button you’ll get connected to German speakers.

Here on italki, it helps to write something about yourself in your profile, so potential partners can see if you’re a good fit and you could correct Portuguese notebook entries and answer questions about Portuguese. If you help other people, you’re also more likely to receive help.

In order to exchange messages, you can either add each other as friends or you go to your privacy settings and set your contact permissions “Who can send me a message or a chat” to “anyone”. This way other people can contact you directly.

Hello eli, I just had a look at your profile page, I read it . It took me half a second to read the only word " hi " ! so I understand that nobody is interested to chat with you, because you did not make the effort to introduce yourself. You can't say that Italki is useless. I am sure that many people think the contrary; many people have improved a lot their languages with the help of the platform. I am sure that you will find plenty of partners if you introduce yourself ( the place you live, your age, hobbies, your story with languages and your goals ). and when you send a message to someone, it is a lot more productive to write a couple of sentences, because personnaly I never answer to people who just write " Hi", or " Do you want to be my friend".

You're right I guess I'm a little bit hurried to find language partners, and yes it's not that common find german communities on internet, but we can find other people learning german as well. Thanks for your contribution and recommendations , I'll check it out
