The internet has already drastically changed our lives. In some ways for good, but also for bad. There were some who foresaw this. In a way less noticeable to some, our lives might be changed by advances in medicine and agriculture. Hopefully, a new cold war never comes into existence, with another arms race. If we were to have come to a nuclear war, would have the people who survived have been from the most "primitive" and isolated societes? If this never happens, maybe an important technological advancement we can make is the development of energy sources that don't produce CO2 or other greenhouse gases. Several years ago, it was shown that advances in computing power were significant. The question is whether this is most important, or the development of new ideas in relation to computers, the internet, and related things. To jump to a previous sentence, our technological societies have cause (for some people), longer life-spans within the last century or so. But people are not always consciously aware of this. Of course, technology has also caused many deaths, through automobiles, obesity, weapons, etc.
