I've listened to some Pimsleur Mandarin audio lessons in the past but never used the program. There are many ways to approach learning a language and if the Pimsleur method is right for you then that great.

I think any good chinese teacher would compliment the Pimsleur course. If he or she doesn't have the material then you will have to work with them to show them what you are working on. That way they can use other learning chinese material to help you and also draw up a lesson plan for your classes.

I use Pimsleur method with Spanish. I can say it's very helpful. I would rather to finish the pimsuler course before I start to looking for a teacher. This is just an opinion.
