First notebook entry
Long ago I spoke and wrote in English on a regular basis at work. After nearly 10 years I have been struggling to relearn English. I want to stop making a fool of myself everytime someone asks me a very simple question. I'm avoiding conversations, especially on the phone. This can't go on any longer. At least I've found italki and today I start writing in my notebook.

I am trying to get to that point with German. On the Internet, to someone else, it seems I can speak German very well. But I am still having to look up a lot of things, either things I don't know or things that I need to refresh, to reinforce. In order to be fluent, which also means saying what you mean to say on the spot without having to look ANYTHING up takes a LOT OF PERSISTENT HARD WORK. It's like having a new diet or an exercise regimen - you have to take it very seriously.
You're on the right track, Veronika. I highly encourage writing in a personal handwritten journal every day. Write down your feelings, experiences, everything, in English. Keep it up :-). I'm aiming to become a private tutor/teacher in German myself.

I really appreciate your complement, as a native speaker. But you don´t know how long it takes to formulate these 6 sentences.

And the problem is.....??? From what you've wrote Veronika, your English appears to be impeccable. :))
