Lucky Cat is a mascot in China. This is a Chinese lucky charm. [Not only in China but in every Chinese community etc.  It originates from the Japanese "welcoming cat" or the maneki-neko 招き猫. Being a Chinese myself, I can safely say we are suckers at these sort of things.  There is also the "luck bamboo" in English.  Actually it is called, "Getting rich tree" or "Money tree" 發财樹, 富貴竹 etc. Not a bamboo at all.  Bamboo cannot grow in standing water.  It rots!  Just your average Dracena or your Pachira Aquatica.
