Why do international sports competitions sometimes encourage strong nationalism? Analyzing the development of national sport, it can be considered, that unfortunately such types of competitions sometimes promote strong nationalism. Indeed, a lot of people, watching Olympics, for instance, associate themselves with national athletes and teams. In this way, usual fans from different countries became competitors and kind of separation on national type is created. Thinking about this issue, firstly I need to say about positive aspect of this one. Namely, it is absolutely normal to feel with results of your country, to hope, that they became better, then other ones. It is called patriotism and as more we feel it, as stronger our country became. For example, I really brave with thirty tree medals of our national team in last Olympic Games, but also I respect foreign athletes, because they deserve their results by years of strong training. Moreover, each member of national competitions deserves to be respected. Unfortunately, the negative aspect of such tournaments is also exists, that is encouraging of nationalism, which is shown by unacceptable behavior of fans, for instance. Especially it can be seen on football matches, when fans from two different countries make a scrimmage, throw fires to each other and cetera. It happens not so often though. Another thing, which should be mentioned, is a lot of stereotypes in sport and many of them is national. For example, possibilities of gain success in some sport areas are not available for certain countries. And as I think, we should not stress a lot of attention, talking about these possibilities, especially in unrespectable way. In conclusion I want to stress, how important to respect each other in sport competitions and to find a balance between following national interests and argue by national type.
