Differences in bigger restaurants and small ones. Do you think bigger restaurants tend to be better than small ones? Yes definitely. bigger restaurants are usually have more skilled chefs than small ones. Also, in most time, the latter aren't as better as the former in terms of the sanitation point. In fact, people would prefer to eat at bigger places if they had enough money because bigger restaurants are usually a lot more expensive than small ones. For example, we can see , sometimes, small ones are full of customers, which are, on the whole, poor people. Do you think small (independent) restaurants are better than chain restaurants (= franchised restaurants)? No. certainly not. You know, there's been more and more chain restaurants, like Mcdonald, in China, especially in big cities, like Beijing over the past few decades. In fact, they're changing Chinese people's eating habits. Compared to independent one, they are more reliable because you can expect to have the same taste around the world. At the same time, you can have a quiker dinner at chain ones since they are usually fast food, which, I suppose, would be the biggest reason why people choose it when they are busy. In all, small restaurants are not as popular as chain ones. Do you think adults and children generally like to eat the same foods? No. On general, children like anything tastes good, including all kind of desserts, such as ice cream and chocolates. Adults, on the other hand, tend to be more goal-oriented when they're making a mind on what to eat. For example, they choose to eat vegetables and fruits to intake vitamins, which are terribly important for people's health. For me, I'd rather to have a fresh apple than a piece of ice cream. In your country, would you say people's eating habits (mostly = what they eat) have changed in the past few decades? Well, In China, people were generally very poor and therefore the living standards were rather low decades ago, but there's been a great improvement in people's living conditions, so there should a big change in people's eating habits. For example, there's a trend towards vegetarianism, which is away from eating meat. In the past, however, they were eager to have meat to eat because people were usually short of protein. In addition, people eat out more frequently than they were in the past, of course it not because foods in restaurant are tasty, but because people have become busier and buier in this competitive society.
