Swami Vivekanand - 2 Here is one more story about Swami Vivekanand. I hope you would have liked the previous one. All corrections and suggestions for betterment of entries are most welcome. Narendra, as he was known in childhood, was fond of riding in a buggy. As he was from a well-to-do family, he had the facility of having a buggy at his home. The coachman was also friendly towards him and he used to take Narendra on frequent rides in buggy. Narendra was also charmed by the way the coachman was easily able to ride the horse. Once his father asked, "Narendra, who do you want to be in life?" Narendra retorted without any second thought," A coachman." The father was disappointed with the answer and started beating Narendra with a stick. After having beaten by his father, Narendra went straight to his mother, sobbing all the way. She hold him near and consoled him. He narrated all the incident to her. She said,"Narendra, if you want to be a coachman. It's okay. But be one like Lord Krishna, who carried out the job of coachman for Arjuna in the greatest war on earth. Be someone like Him. You should not learn to ride a mere horse, but you should be able to drive people on the right path, the path of righteousness." Mother's words had a huge impact on small Narendra's mind. Ultimately, he became a philosopher and guided many people on the path of truth.
