Panao Panghalip => Pangahalip na Panao = Personal Pronoun

Subject Pronouns:

1st Person:  I = “Ako”; We = “Tayo/Kami”

2nd Person:  You = “Ikaw/Ka”;  You (plural) = “Kayo”

3rd Person:  He/She = “Siya”;  They = “Sila”

Sa ngayon pupunta ako sa trabaho.  = As of now/today I will go to work.

Sa ngayon pApunta ako sa trabaho. = As of now I am on my way to work.

Ngayon pUpunta ako sa trabaho. = Now/Today I will go to work.

Ngayon pApunta ako sa trabaho. = Now I am on my way to work.

Siya lutong adobo.  = He/She adobo style of cooking.  :-)

Siya ay nagluto ng adobo. OR Nagluto siya ng adobo. = He/She cooked adobo.

Siya ay nagluluto ng adobo. OR Nagluluto siya ng adobo. = He/She is cooking adobo.

Possessive Pronouns:

1st Person:  My/Mine = “Ko/Akin”; Ours = “Amin/Namin/Atin/Natin”

2nd Person: Your/Yours = “Mo/Iyo”; Your/Yours (plural) = “Inyo/Ninyo”

3rd Person:  His/Hers = “Kanya/Niya”;  Their/Theirs = “Kanila/Nila”

You use “iyo” when it is placed before the noun/gerund that is “owned” and you also need to attach a linker (ng) to it to make it “iyong”.  “Iyo” becomes “mo” when it is placed IMMEDIATELY AFTER the noun or gerund.

Ano ginagawan mo sa ngayon? -  This should be: Ano ang ginagawa MO sa ngayon? = What are you doing at the moment?   In this sentence, we consider “what” as the subject and “you” only acts as the possessor of the gerund “doing” (ginagawa).  Hence, we use the possessive pronoun and not the subject pronoun.  Also, you may combine “ano” and “ang” to form “anong” and state your sentence as “Anong ginagawa mo sa ngayon?”).

Ano ang IYOng ginagawa sa ngayon? = What are you doing at the moment?  - We now use
“iyo + ng” because it is positioned before the gerund.

IKAW ba ay may ginagawa sa ngayon?  = Are you doing anything at the moment?  -  Here, “you” is the subject, so the subject pronoun “ikaw” is used.  “Ba” acts as the question word in the sentence.

Pagod ako. =  I am tired.

Paalam. = Farewell -  rather formal.  We usually just say, “bye”.

Goodnight!  = “Magandang gabi” - which is also “good evening”.  Practically all of us though say, “goodnight”.
