What languages did you learn at school?
I had this question for a long time. For example, I'm Ukrainian and I have two native languages, which are Ukrainian and Russian. Almost all the people in my country speak these two languages. And they learn English at school because it is an international language (usually they have English classes twice a week). Only those people who study in the school specialising in foreign languages can learn some other language too (French, German, and etc.). But what languages do the English native speakers learn? Is the learning of any foreign language obligatory for you? If you learned any foreign language at school, then how many classes did you have per week?
Hello VIK,
It is a long, long time ago but when I started secondary school we had French and a choice of Latin or German. I took German, but only one year as I wanted to do Biology. (I often think I should have taken Latin. Isn't hindsight a wonderful thing!) I think most schools had French but I know some of them had Spanish instead.
