The advantages and disadvantages of learning English abroad compared to learning in your own country English is the most important language in the world. Each country use it in every field: informatic, commercial exchange, food, travels, jobs. On one hand This language for the most people isn't difficult to learn but on the other hand there are people who have to struggle with learning english. I have to say that there are a lot of ways to learn english: with books, videos, classes, or by speaking with native people by using different sites which offer these opportunities. The only problem is that you never follow this learning schedule every day so that you can't learn english very well. However if a learner go abrod to learn english is better. First of all you keep in touch with the language all the time and in this way you learn every day lots of words, idioms and expression. In my opinion if people want to learn english have to go abroad. Be around the language is different from learning it with computers.

I think travelling would help, but only if you still put in the effort. Check out this interesting article (in english): http://www.thepolyglotdream.com/do-you-need-to-live-abroad-to-learn-a-language-guest-post-by-jana-fadness/

It seems to me that going abroad does not assure that you will be immersed in English. I have read many entries on this site about people living in cities like London, Dublin and Houston who can only find people who speak broken English, because there are too many non-native English speakers in those cities.
