DailyTalki #9 - I want to learn how to play baseball Baseball is one of the most popular sports in the United States. I started to watch the games a couple of days ago, so the rules sometimes are confused to me. I know that there's a very complex technical strategy, which makes that sport unique. Normally in other sports, such as Football and Basketball players play the game, without thinking as strategically. I don't know yet which team to choose. I'm conflicted between Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees, I'll use your comments to decide. Can you help me choose a team?

Baseball is one of the most popular sports in the United States. I started to watch the games a couple of days ago, so the rules sometimes are confused to me. I know that exist there's a very complex technical strategy, which makes that sport unique. Normally (or Usually) in others sports, such as Football and Basketball, the players plays the game, without to think thinking as so much strategically.

I don't know yet which team to choose. I'm conflicted between Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees, I'll see below. (In the comments section, I guess?)

Normally in other sports such as Football and Basketbal, the player can play the game without having to think as strategically.

I don't know yet which team to support. I'm conflicted between Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees, I'll see below. (I think you mean "I'll use your comments to decide")

Ah ok, I can understand now Drew. I don't know that. For me is all the same haha. Well, definitely I'll choose The Dodgers because is a team of National League. Thanks a lot, I appreciate It.

Hi, Edson. The Dodgers and the Yankees play in different leagues that have different rules. The Dodgers play in the National League, where the pitcher gets to bat like every other player on the team. The Yankees play in the American League, where the pitcher doesn't get to bat like the other players. His turn at bat is taken by a player called the "designated hitter". The designated hitter doesn't play in the field, at all. His only job is to bat for the pitcher. If you want to learn the rules of baseball as it was invented, I would suggest that you follow a National League team like the Dodgers. There is much more strategy and decision making involved when the pitcher gets to bat for himself.
