I told my friend about the incident at the railway station but (s)he didn't buy it.
'which took place' is redundant i.e. unnecessary ; the second sentence can be combined with the first, and you should avoid starting a sentence with the word 'but'.
'didn't buy it' is a slang expression meaning 'didn't believe it'
