Hi, everyone What do you say in English to mean that someone was treated unfairly or had some unfair thing happen to them, or at least something they deem to be unfair. Example 1: “Often our adult children make bad decision and us parents are the ones who get stuck with their problems/the ones who have to pay for it/the ones who take the rap/the ones who get punished/the ones who get burned” Example 2: “Our team got robbed/shafted/screwed by the referee today” Example 3: (Two friends are talking about a fantasy football/soccer game and a player who played really badly in today’s soccer game) “I picked this player for my team this gameweek and really got burned/punished/screwed/shafted. He got sent off (got a red card) and made me lose a lot of points.” Could I use any of these expressions in these examples? Thank you very much!!!

Yes, these work. Some of them are more slang like - the ones who take the rap or the one who gets burned. The best one, is - the one who pays for it. Often our adult children make bad decision and us parents are the ones who get stuck with their problems/the ones who have to pay for it/the ones who take the rap/the ones who get punished/the ones who get burned” For example two these are slang. I would use robbed or shafted. All of the examples work in English.
