It depends on the context.
But in an email it usually means to revisit something that was discussed previously.

Make a path like a circle and go back to the beginning. A loop is a circle.

He was probably referring to the floor layout of the house in this case. Rather than having a linear or square layout , you could walk round it and arrive back where you started
