In order to learn English words quickly you can follow 2 methods. First is the repetition-based method, where you learn English words by writing them several times or saying them repeatedly until you remember them all. If you patiently follow the process, you will see your vocabulary extended very well. Secondly, you also need have to have a notebook with your own note-taking rules. Each time you log onto Italki, note down any new words in the Questions and Answers section. The only problem is whether you want a rich vocabulary or not. Your plan should answer 4 questions. 1.How many words will you learn a week: 5, 10, 15 or more? 2. When will you learn them? Every other morning or anytime you feel like learning? 3. How often will you review what you have learnt: weekly, monthly or before a test ? 4. What areas of English will you focus on? Sports, music, games or sciences? The answers may vary from one person to another depending on memory, schedules and interest. You can gain a big vocabulary and improve your English by determining what field of words to learn, making a plan of learning, choosing a learning method and regularly practising your plan and method. Daily vocab learning is better than weekly or monthly. Memorize words by drawing small pictures next to them. Example: for the phrase "make up" draw a coloured picture of a woman's face with lipstick, eye shadow and mascara. "Make up" also means to make friends again after an argument so you need to draw 2 people shaking hands. . http://quizlet.com/subject/english/ is a website with flashcards, memory games etc to help you.

Repetition is crucial in this matter ,I think. Once you have read a word in a text or novel or in a song you will recognize it first and learn how to pronounce it for example, but if you don't apply it repetitively in a way or another you are more likely to forget it. Let's say you will tend to forget more or less 50 % of those words you have just encountered once. The mind at a time has a certain capacitiy and will be selectively able to memorize a certain number of words. To guarantee memorzing more words you have to repeat using them in various manners. - Apply them in sentences in written exercises, chat forums with friends, verbal chats etc.. - If you heard them in song keep listening to it several times repeating the lyrics again and again - Read more , the more you read novels ,articles etc .. you will come across many words you have learned recently specially the ones often used in written texts. - You can write down or record as mentioned by chpr1 or practice using them in any way you find suitable and that helps you memorize quicker .Some people memorize quicker by listening ,some have advanced visual abilities ,so whether you write ,read, listen or speak ,it is your decision to apply the most appropriate method for best results. Good luck:)

Figure out what you've learned quickly in the past, and apply it to English. For me, I learn vocabulary by writing lists and model sentences, then I record and listen to my lists. That's just my way. Maybe your way will be different.

Learn a new word and use it frequently. Otherwise in a few days' time, you will have forgotten it. Same with me learning a new English word. Use it or lose it. :)
