Find someone you are comfortable with who'll go slow with you at first and then it should get easier to talk to others afterwards. ^^ It's definitely scary at first though ;;

I agree with Karl. I am trying to learn Malay and I often get laughed at, but the people appreciate that you are trying. English people can be a bit mean, but often we meet people wanting free English lessons. However, when I travell and meet someone who speaks a bit of English I am thrilled and appreciate their effort. Sites like this offer a great way to speak English frequently. Find a language partner. Just be yourself. As Danielle says find someone you are comfortable with.

你好 xD Hey, I am a foreigner living in Malaysia and I have the same problem... I am trying to learn Chinese but I am finding it very hard and actually people laugh at me a bit haha, but the thing is, you just need to be confident, people like it when you try to speak their language, (Though English people can be a bit rude :(, not all of us are though! :D) My advice is, think in English, when you see things think of the english word, you need to think like an english person to really master English, you know what I mean? Keep trying, I'm sure you'll do fine :).. good luck! Are you speaking to foreigners in English speaking countries?
