Only 3! Present, Future and Past. Oh, and imperative. But there are 7 different verb "constructures", each of them with a different conjugation. Vowels are changing happily all the time, consonants appear and dissappear... Without a deep understanding of the structure, you won't know how to conjugate a verb. Infinitiv is rarely given, only the root. But it serves you more. But when you need an infinitive (modal tense), you are lost. :) Oh, and there are soft and hard and whatever consonants which like to change into something else. There are all rules for it and it is regular. But many rules, many... :) But I love that language!

Only 3 tenses! But the Hebrew language is constructed in a very different way from the Latin languages... I'll try to explain: Every Hebrew verb has a root. Every one of them. The root consists of 3 constants (sometimes 4, but it is not very common) and in order to express the verb you want, you must choose a patern for those letters and just say the verb! There are 7 different patterns in Hebrew and each of them has 3 tenses conjugates by the subject (compare: "I write" versus "He writes"). Of course that there are exceptions, and some more difficult corners, but this is the basic. Example: One of the most useful patterns in Hebrew is "X-a-X-a-X" (X represents the constant, a is the vowel). This patterns is in the past tense, to the "He" subject. Now you can choose a lot of different roots and get different verbs! For example, the root for "to write" is "K-T-V" so the verb "He wrote" is translated: "KATAV"! Another example, the root for "to take" is "L-K-CH" so the verb "He took" is translated: "LAKACH"! Good luck!
