New global master toy partner (Hasbro) launched redesigned line of Strawberry Shortcake toys in Aug ‘09 with increased placement for 2010. Does it mean that Hasbro plans to launch more in 2010? What does the word placement mean here ?

'Placement' here refers to product placement - putting the product in situations where there is no advertisement, but you see the product anyway. It does not refer to the number of toys produced.
Firms will pay to have their product shown in movies and television shows. It is not a formal commercial, but you still see the product.
This practice has grown in the past few years because people can record television shows and skip over the commercials. With product placement, the audience still sees the product - there is just no speech telling you how wonderful it is.
Simply put - you will see their toys in more television shows or movies that make it look as if they were part of the show.

I would like to add to fdmaxey's fine answer with a further possibility: Increased placement in 2010 could refer to increased distribution; that is, the product will be placed in more stores and outlets as time goes on. But if the meaning were strictly "distribution", I guess they would have used that word.

Yes. I would think, as in to pay for a bigger number of toys to be produced in 2010.

You could be probably correct but where did you read this? Do you have an internet URL?
I would like to read the context to get clues as to the correct meaning by "placement".
