there is no really difference between these words...maybe "niemals" is a bit more intensive
example:
"Ich würde das nie machen!"
--> Das ist mir viel zu gefährlich!
"Ich würde das niemals machen!"
--> Unter gar keinen Umständen würde ich das machen!
