What does "low-tops" mean? There was such context in the text:
"I traded my Converse black low-tops for a pair of brown leather sandals and launched a rocket towards government tanks that I couldn't even see".

I think in this context it means that the shoes look like this: http://toquegirls.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/converse-low-tops.jpg
And not like this: http://www.womenshoesbestprice.com/images_products/Converse-Chuck-Taylor-All-Star-Hi-Top-Black-Canvas-Shoes.jpg
