What's the difference between "πως" and "ότι"?

just like εάν and αν, πως and ότι have exactly the same meaning when they introduce a dependent sentence.
Examples:
Ισχυρίζεται πως / ότι έχει δίκιο (he claims that he's right)
Το ξέρω πως / ότι με αγαπάς (I know that you love me)
