Oh, of course! Watching English movies can improve your language. And you can start to watch any cartoons or films which you watched early because it will be easier. Anyway while you are learning English have fun ! :)

I think that watching English movies can be beneficial for learners up to a certain point. For example it's useful for training your ear to listen and understanding different accents of native speakers, particularly if you don't have the opportunity to do that much in real life. Also it's quite useful for picking up new vocabulary and phrases, a lot of which may be colloquial and slang. Finally you can find online resources where you watch short movie clips and then answer comprehension questions, so if watching movies is done in a structured and purposeful manner it can be a useful tool! Of course nothing beats speaking and listening to native speakers in real life of course!

Subtitles! Subtitles! Subtitles! In my home country the Netherlands we speak Dutch. But on TV there are always English movies. These movies are not dubbed with Dutch speech. You can hear the English original sound, and you read written subtitles in Dutch. Hence here in the Netherlands, every kid over 12 years old can speak English almost fluently. As soon as you can read and watch TV, you are learning English in the Netherlands. Maybe you can do the same in China?

Hi Amy, I think it's a fantastic way to improve both: you train the ear (different accents, how words are pronounced etc) and you learn new vocabulary. You can also have a look on youtube! There you find many many subtitled ducumentaries talking about countless topics. Also you can google the lyrics of english songs you like. It's also a good way to learn new vocabulary.
