See yu? One of my pupils keeps on mailing me, and then ending with 'see yu'. Is this a text message abbreviation or can't she spell 'you'? Her native language is not English. I am tempted to correct her, but I don't want to be an old nitwit correcting the present day mobile phone youth with spelling. I am her athletic coach.

I could understand See u or even c u but yu seems strange.

As her coach, would you let her continue to run with awkward stride, swim with poor efficiency, jump with bad mechanics, etc ... ? Better awareness, whether physically or grammatically, is the gift only a caring coach can give and which a willful participant can appreciate.
