"Many happiness comes off the year"? What I was trying to say in the sentence is - one is hoping/wishing that the new year will give happiness (hopefully). Is there any grammatical mistake in this sentence? Or just say "Many happy returns of the year"?

The usual way of saying it is "Happy new year", or "Merry Christmas and a happy new year". "Many happy returns" is said to some one on their birthday. If you want to put it into a sentence, then say "I hope you have a happy new year." or "May you have a happy new year."
