Can any person tell me what does this "lol" mean?? (many person are using it in different languages). I know that it is an informal word/slang, but is it French, English..?

when something is funny people uses lol or loooooool to express laugh and it is french.
for exemple spanich people uses jejeje to express laugh its the same like lol .
