Yes, since you know the basics but choose shows with translation. to understand what you watch then try watch without translation. try to write what you have watch that will help you. found friends talking with them what you have learned from watching TV and your friends corrects you but what you learned dialects or standard arabic?

Becareful that most arabic shows are in slang different dialcets.. If u want the Modern Standerdized Arabic then watch arabic news or documentry movies.. :)

I think you have to start with basics ..

It depends on which Arabic do you want to learn and which TV shows you are watching. For example if you want to learn Classical Arabic then you should watch TV shows which is been showed in Classical Arabic and so on. It gonna help you if you know some basics.
