For instance:
1. I picked him up from work.
2. I picked him up from the mall.
3. I picked him up from/at the park.
4. I picked him up from/at the airport.

"aller chercher" (the verb "to go" + the verb "to seach" combined become "to pick up")
ex : Je suis allé le chercher au travail.
But because it's a person, you could say "aller prendre" (the verb "to go" + the verb "take")
Ex : Je suis allé le prendre au travail.
