Why couldn't this be gehören?

"gehört" ist das Partizip II (Partizip Perfekt) von "hören" (Infinitiv).
Du hörst das Geräusch.
Du hast das Geräusch gehört.
"gehören" (Infinitiv) bedeutet etwas anderes als "hören".
Die Bücher gehören Jennifer.
Die Bücher haben Jennifer gehört.
